Position:
Full-time Licensed Pharmacy Technician

Technician Job Duties:

• Prepare medications inventories under the direction of a pharmacist. Must be able to measure, mix, count out, order, label, record, and input amounts and dosages of medications. Must be able to prepackage bulk medications.
• Prepare IV mixtures.
• Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams.
• Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
• Input prescriptions into computer database.
• Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
• Assist in inpatient and outpatient dispensing.
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
• Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
• Schedule and maintain workflow.
• Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
• Clean and maintain equipment and work areas. Sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
• Price and file prescriptions that have been filled.
• Assist customers by answering simple questions, screening calls, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
• Verify that customer receives the correct prescription(s).
• Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
• Must be able to work with insurance carriers to obtain payments and have refilling authority.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education Requirements:
Completion of a Pharmacy Tech Training Program and PTCB certified is required. Valid State Pharmacy Technician registration is required. High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree is required. Compounding experience is preferred. Basic math and computer skills are required. Ability to respect confidentiality of patient data is required. Ability to type at 35 WPM is required. Previous excellent customer experience is preferred. Strong communication skills and professional attitude is preferred. Understanding of medical terminology and calculations is required.
